The Poetry Corner

Alex's Niche

The web page is dedicated to the poetry of writers like you.
Each week, we will feature your poetry, let you know about poetry contests, have our own contests for the best love poems and other forms of poetry, and more.
This page was inspired by and is dedicated to Alexandria Jordan, the founder of The Writer's Niche. Each week, I will be adding to her ongoing poetry reflections and she will be sharing her other poetry writings.
Please submit your poetry in the form below and we'll add it here. We'll start our own ©UniqueCritique poetry collection.
I look forward to sharing with you.

"The world is round and the place which may seem like the end may also be the beginning."

Ivy Baker Priest

The World Is Round

Sunrise pushes back the romance of starlight while bidding your love to say farewell.

Weep not...

The world is round.

Daylight brings busy hours of toil at necessary tasks, which are not your passion.

Toil but a little longer...

The world is round.

The spring, summer, and fall each have come and gone, giving way to the cold of winter.

Shiver in its chill but a little longer...

The world is round.

The days unfold in a manner unforeseen, leaving you in anguish and forlorn.

Grieve but a little longer...

The world is round.

An ending has indeed come to pass leaving in its wake a new beginning.

Dwell on the past no more...

The world is round.

...In Good Company

Shall I rest more or rise?

Read in solitude or dare reaching out

in my way of choice

to the world which overwhelms me?

Such are the questions I contemplate

beneath cloudy, autumn skies which weep intermittently,

seemingly undecided whether or not to rain...

I am indeed in good company!

Isolation is for the weak

which throughout a lifetime of stubbornness

I have refused to be.

Hesitation must give way!

And so it seems the heavens agree...

for the rain now pours

freely

and in abundance.

He Said I Was His Eagle

He said I was His eagle to try to make me see,
the beauty locked inside me, my chosen destiny.
He said I was a leader, and called to be His friend.
My life would impact others, through me He would extend,
His hands in sweet forgiveness, His arms in blessed calm.
Through my life He'd heal countless hearts, and keep them safe from harm.

He said I was His eagle, my life was meant to soar,
far above this wind tossed world, high above the shore.
The shores of pain, the shores of doubts, the shores of misery.
my life was meant to point the way, to help the captive see.
To see that life is precious, my life more precious still,
For I was born a priceless soul, called so by His own will.

He said I was His eagle, my wings were made to fly,
high above all doubts and fears, determined in the skies.
My wings were meant to carry me beyond all shame and guilt,
beyond the walls of limits, from fear that I had built.
He said I'd touch His precious world with gifts locked deep inside,
my heart was given priceless gifts not meant for me to hide.

I'd never seen the beauty that God had placed in me.
Instead I saw the broken failure everyone said I'd be.
My wings were bruised and tattered from hands rough with abuse,
my heart so badly damaged from years filled with misuse.
I could not see the treasures that God had placed in me,
thought my life was useless and broken I'd always be.

Eventually He taught me to trust in life and Him,
He healed my wings and touched my heart became my closest friend.
He gave me keys to love and hope, each day He truly blessed,
He gave me life, and goodness, but most of all His rest.
Today I soar above the clouds, as free as one can be,
I see myself as He sees me---His Eagle, my destiny!
