Uniquely Yours-Writing Tips & Lessons For Spring

The Spring Edition

Unleashing the Spring in Your Writing

The scent of spring is in the air. Well, it’s mostly wishful thinking but the days are growing noticeably longer and I can almost feel the ground beneath my feet quivering in anticipation at the coming of the season of the renewal of life.

This is a great time to begin something new with your writing…to see things from a fresh perspective. Ideas have been germinating inside you, laying dormant, being fertilized by the circumstances of your life and now it’s your time to create something new.

Anticipation is the main ingredient of stirring spring into your writing mix. What you anticipate, you cultivate. Meaning, if you anticipate lots of springtime activity for your writing, that is exactly what will be produced with your writing.

For example, let’s say that I am anticipating the awakening of spring. The characters that I write about will probably do some languid stretching, the sun will most likely be rising as if from a long sleep, desire will start as a small spark that is slowly awakened by the gentle caress of a lover’s hand, and children will bound from their beds to race out into the warm spring morning. All of these scenarios were generated by my anticipated thoughts. Such thinking will energize your writing, too.

Just something for you to think about…
