Uniquely Yours-Writing Tips & Lessons For Spring

The Spring Edition

Spring Writing Tips

Write a love letter to your spouse or significant other. Take special care to use strong verbs and descriptive phrases. Tell that man how he steams up your glasses and causes your heart to gallop and skitter out of control when you look into those heart-melting eyes of his. Tell that lady that her kisses make you burn and trail tongues of fire that ignites into an inferno of liquid lust in the pit of your belly. C’mon, lay it on thick! You have been given creative license and the pay-off will be huge. I promise. Plus, you’ll have all sorts of juicy love scenes and spicy dialogue to add to your short stories and manuscripts after you’ve been "thanked" by the recipient of your love.

Write a note to your best friend telling them what they mean to you. This is a season of love that should be shared with everyone. Give those you care about flowers while they are here to enjoy them…not after they are gone. You’ll both be glad that you did. You are creating mental picture albums that you and your friend will be able to flip through and cherish. (Remember, an inspired mind produces inspired writing.)

Think about your favorite thing about spring, then write a cute story about it. Like spring rain? Write a short story about walking barefoot in a puddle during a warm spring shower. Share the story with your favorite writing group or online club. Ahhhh, spring.

Write a list of new things that you’d like to experience this year, then begin to cross them off, one by one, as you do them. Have you always wondered where a certain bend in the road lead to? Write it down. Have you been harboring a secret desire to taste caviar? Add it to your list. Would you like to be a blond someday? Mark it down. Make the list as long as your whims or as short as your deepest desires. It’s all up to you.
After your list is completed, immediately do one of the things listed. Don’t hesitate and don’t "wait for a good time." Life, by its very name, is an action word. Life is for doing. Get up and start living. Then write about it. Always, always write about mostly everything and absolutely nothing. It’s all valuable. It’s all life. Live!
